NASA Research Center Recap
We recently hosted our STEM Outreach Workshop at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffet Field, CA. It was a great load of work and fun to enrich the minds of all the youth and adults that attended. When we first saw the research center, it almost looked like a spacecraft ready for takeoff (see picture below). There were so many space artifcats like a space boot from the moon or tires from a space shuttle. We began our program by assembling our MoonBots gameboard with a very noisy drill that attracted quite a large crowd of vistors. A few minutes later we met the NASA experts who were kind enough to let us use the center for a few hours. We began with our presentation on the large screen to educate the guests and also test their knowledge on the moon. After that, we proceeded to the robot demo which fascinated everyone with all the flying object we had. Lastly, we let the crowd play and program the robot with Bluetooth controls and also ask questions. It was a very fun experience for both us and the visitors. |
Google Lunar XPrize's MoonBots Challenge (http://moonbots.org) providing and exciting and intriguing opportunity to spark the minds of our future space explorers while embarking on a mission to learn about the moon and space. MoonBots changed this dreary summer into a memorable and enjoyable experience. All the facts and new ideas we learned and researched about he moon actually came to life for once. The Google Lunar XPrize is a great foundation to engage kids in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
We are very fortunate and excited to be part of PHASE 2 in this challenge, competing with the 29 other teams Come visit our LIVE STEM OUTREACH PRESENTATION at the NASA Ames Research Center! http://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/home/exploration.html November 11th at 1:15!!! |
